It's 2020. Inevitably, this year's podiversiary is a clip show. But hopefully a fun one?

In today's episode we look at how women defined the role of women in society, and how it allowed women to interact with the law itself. In the process we will finally start to come to terms with sexual violence.
Today is going to be a brief digression into the value of legal codes as a source, which will set us up nicely for the next episode, where we will begin to discuss the status of women in early medieval legal codes. Charlemagne's proclivity for pink frilly party balloons is discussed but ultimately dismissed.

In today's episode we examine the role women played in the economy of the middle ages. Spoilers: it was pretty big.
Ben Jacobs of Wittenberg to Westphalia and Sam Hume of the History of Witchcraft sat down for a chat about witch panics, memes, authority, and the importance of getting angry while also staying calm.

In the last few episodes we discussed the issue of groups that do not fit comfortably into the concept of normal that any society sets up. Today we will begin to discuss the most strange and terrifying minority of all: women.
Also congrats to Andrew for graduating, yaaaaaaaay!
In today's episode we discuss the complex set of ideological, political, and economic processes that impacted the lives of non-normative populations in Medieval Europe, and how this affected daily life.
There's a lot going on in this episode, but the most important thing is that Andrew mixed up "Big Band" with "Big Beat," and the result is awesome. |
